I went to Thailand! and other Musings

Friends, Romans, Hotties, lend me your ears!

It’s time for another Monday Musings, and I’ve got a lot to update you on! I don’t know where to start so I’ll just tell you about

Thailand

Last week, I spent five (three and a half) wonderful days in Bangkok. I ate a lot of pad thai, drank several variations of coconut water, and sweated my whole body weight and then some. It was so lovely. I had a proper vacation in Thailand. I ate well, saw beautiful things, and just got the chance to relax. I already can’t wait to go back.

When I was deciding where to teach abroad, I had my choices narrowed down between China and Thailand. I ended up going with China, but after visiting Thailand, I think I would really love living there. I was reminded of a lot of things I missed about living in the U.S. No one was staring at me. There was a wealth of food options. The taxi drivers were playing music I recognized. NO ONE WAS STARING AT ME! It’s truly the little things.

Social Media

Since my phone broke, I’ve begun an unintended social media hiatus. I haven’t accessd instagram much; I can’t get on tik tok a ton, and I still mostly use Facebook for measaging my friends and reading what’s going on in Facebook groups. Twitter is the only place I’ve stayed pretty consistent, but consistent now is logging on weekly, especially since it’s slowly creeping down into the dumps.

I enjoy social media, but it’s nice to just forget about it. I’m not much of a doom scroller or anything like that, but I do have the feeling that I NEED to be creating or doing something which definitely gets tiring. Here’s to breaks.

Writing

During NaNo 2022, I got closer than ever to completing a novel. Since November, I’ve probably added no more than 100 words to that story. I want to at least write an ending so I can say to myself “Hey! I wrote a novel and that’s something to be proud of.” Here’s hoping.

Money

I mentioned a couple musings ago how I consolidated my debt into a personal loan. Honestly, it’s taken a huge weight off my shoulders. That, combined with tax refunds, has made things a lot easier on me. Now, I have a clearer plan for my money, can do some saving, and can finally, FINALLY, solidify my giving plan.

Everything Else

I need to get a new job this month hopefully. I don’t want to move out of Shenzhen, and I don’t want to be employed by an agency. My last resort is working with a kindergarten because I know they’re frequently hiring, but I want to be able to breathe next year as well. I need to be able to figure out what I will do when I return to America, and i need time to do that. I still want to write a novel and grow my YouTube channel. There’s so much to be done!

Currently:

Reading: Battle Royal, Me Talk Pretty One Day, and I haven’t picked up Siddhartha in a minute but I need to finish

Thinking about: Where I want to work, how to have a consistent YouTube schedule

Listening to: Nothing, but I need to finish The Secret Lives of Church Ladies

See you next time dearie,

Briana
