They hate to see a girlboss winning, amirite ladies? Shipped gets the distinct pleasure of being my favorite book of 2022 so far. I have only finished 4 books so far this year, so of course, this is subject to change, but it has everything I need in a book: enemies to lovers, fun locations, a very relatable main character (to me), and something we don’t get to see a lot in romance: ACTUAL COMMUNICATION. Who knew that existed?

In Shipped, we meet Henley Evans, an overworked, underacknowledged 20 something, who just got THE opportunity of her career. The only thing stopping her is Graeme Crawford-Collins, her office nemesis who she’s never actually met in real life. They’re tasked with creating a killer marketing proposal to secure a killer role: digital marketing director. Throw in an irksome little sister, a very overbearing Nikolai, and the wonders of the Galapagos, and it’s a recipe for fun.

My favorite part of this novel was watching Henley grow and change. It can be hard to watch a character make mistakes and not realize it, but I think it’s natural for us to take time and need a second to process the things that we do. Henley is no different. She’s a cog in the rat race at the beginning of the novel, and as we reach the end, she understands who she wants to be a little better. It helps, I think, that she gets to have this realization in the Galapagos. Sometimes we just need a little separation from everything we’ve ever known, to show us what we really need to know.

This is my first book by Angie Hockman, and I can’t believe it’s her debut novel. WE WANT MORE ANGIE!!! If you love reading round characters and stories that aren’t JUST the romance, pick up this book. It’s a fun story that will make you want to hug your family and hop on the next cruise to the Galapagos.
